UWCSEAIndonesian Scholarship Programme

UWCSEA selects Indonesian students who show intellectual curiosity and motivation, academic excellence and incredible potential, as scholars. They are individuals who will apply what they’ve learned at UWCSEA to make the world a better place; uniting people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.
UWCSEAIndonesia Scholarships provide two years of study in the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

To date, nine talented Indonesian scholars have graduated from this programme.

We are now raising funding for two new scholars to join UWCSEA in August 2020.

Amira from Aceh

“At UWCSEA I have become a better version of myself  – a more concerned person who can take action and make change in the world.”

Amira studied for three years at UWCSEA (2010-2013), and graduated with an impressive IB Diploma. She is currently studying for her Masters at the Harvard Divinity School.

“UWCSEA was a life changing experience. When I first arrived on campus, I used to be a home-based person, who would tune my guitar and sing quietly in my room, never daring to share myself and my talents with others. At UWCSEA I was challenged to grow as a complete person, to explore my talents and abilities and to push my boundaries.

While at UWCSEA, Amira always talked about returning to Indonesia to“apply my UWC ideals, without compromising local cultural values”. She looked forward to working alongside her local community to solve important public problems in a meaningful and impactful way. Amira has already made great strides in making a direct and meaningful impact in all the communities she has been part of and is well on the way to expanding her footprint to create meaningful change.

Anne from Batu

“I will act as a catalyst for change in Indonesia, starting in the smallest of villages.”

Anne cites critical thinking, a global perspective and interdisciplinary collaboration as the defining skills she gained as UWCSEA student. After graduating from UWCSEA in 2018 Anne received a scholarship to study Chemical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma. She is currently in her second year, and she looks forward to returning to Indonesia to work as a female engineer.

“My UWCSEA education is so powerful - it has changed my life and my future. It has pushed me beyond my comfort zones in so many different areas (including speaking  English!) a UWCSEA education has impacted me forever.”

Anne deeply enjoys giving back to the community through volunteer work. While at UWCSEA she volunteered with TEDxUWCSEA, was a Swim Coach with Beyond Social Services, and at university has volunteered with the Skyline Urban Ministry.

At heart, Anne is a civic and intellectual disruptor with big dreams. We are proud to see that she’s well on her way to finding her own path to making those dreams come true.
