Last weekend the under 18A girls basketball team participated in the Dragons Invitational tournament at UWCSEA East. The tournament ran from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening and teams from all around Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand came to play. It was our first time playing as a team this season, yet we still had a successful tournament placing second overall.
It was a great opportunity to develop our own skills as well establish a good team dynamic. Our first game together was against UWCSEA Dover B and we had a successful game. It was our first opportunity to see how our teammates played together in a game situation and by the fourth quarter we had already begun making adjustments to each other's styles and communicating better on and off the court. The following morning was a game against Tanglin Trust School, who has been good competition for East over the past four year and has held a winning streak against the 18A girls team. With this in mind we were ready to play our hardest and leave everything on the court. Despite this being only our third game we were able to maintain a strong defense and offense in the game and as a result landed our first win against Tanglin for first time in the last four years.
Overall the tournament was a great start to the year and it was a good glimpse at what our SEASAC away will look like.
