The UWCSEA Foundation

The UWCSEA Foundation was established in 2008 to enrich the unique UWC learning experience and bring the College closer to achieving its mission: to make education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.

Collective support through the UWCSEA Fund continues to advance this vital UWC mission and enrich the transformational UWCSEA learning experience, in the classroom and beyond. Our community of generous donors are helping empower, enable and invest in a future generation of global citizens.

The UWCSEA Fund supports four key priorities:

SCHOLARSHIPS - 'Unite people, nations and cultures'

Using the power of education to bring together a diverse group of young people to become future community leaders and find solutions to some of the world's most intractable problems.

I'm proud to have been a UWCSEA scholar and gained strength learning from others who were so different to myself - and yet at the same time so similar. It's the UWC paradox: that celebrating diversity unifies us! I hope the generosity of donors continues to enable more kids like me to be able to join the UWC movement where they will be filled with the values and energy of positive change.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - 'Create a sustainable future'

We focus on addressing peace and social justice challenges by raising the living standards of humanity whilst respecting the planet's ecological boundaries.

As a UWCSEA student, I passionately believe in the school's mission and focus on renewable energy to help make a healthier planet. The Solar for Dover project is already successfully reducing the college's carbon footprint and we're now expanding it to the East campus to help light up even more classrooms - and imaginations

TEACHING AND LEARNING - 'Exceptional learning experiences'

UWC delivers a holistic, values-based education that develops young people as individuals and as members of a global society.

The session with Mr Chin in the ‘Workshops with the Composer' series was very interactive and inspiring. I thoroughly enjoyed his positive method of teaching and how he brought all the string instruments together, to a new level. It was really fun and inspiring and I hope we can have more sessions like this.

ENDOWMENT - 'Support the long-term future of UWCSEA'

Building endowment funds provide the College freedom to seize opportunities as they emerge, strengthening the legacy of the College and supporting its continued growth and development.

I have always admired the energy and passion of the students at UWCSEA - particularly the scholars who are bootstrapping themselves from difficult circumstances. I certainly thought a lot about their challenges when I was feeling a little sorry for myself climbing a long hill or battling a tough headwind. The contributions raised by this ride, which I am matching, will go a long way to help more scholars enjoy the benefit of a UWCSEA scholarship. Thank you, everyone, for your generosity!

Charles Ormiston, former UWCSEA Board Chair

If we are to be a great UWC, as opposed to a great international school, we need to bridge a chasm. That bridge cannot be built solely from fees but has its substance in passion, kindness, and generosity.

Chris Edwards, Head of College
